Our first drawings of the PX design go back to 2014. It took years to find partners who were willing and able to go down this path with us. This means not just revamping mass-produced goods from the Asian shelf and offering them on the market again. We have literally collected and tested "mass" over the years and so it is certainly not the commercial route we have taken here and most of our efforts and paid for exclusive tools may not pay off. But at the end of the road, the journey leads to another highlight that we would like to proudly add to our car audio industry. A product that should bring out all the beautiful colors that our hobby should have. This is not just because it seems necessary to point out individual performance, since contrary to the general impression on the market, this is actually becoming increasingly rare.

Here the PX-2M proudly presents itself as the last puzzle in the foundation of our now 4th level TOP EXCURSION PX PERFORMANCE EXPERT loudspeaker series. With attention to detail and a hexagon grill we are following the trend of an ultra-small 50mm broadband primary midrange driver that allows for almost all installation options. It generates its performance from a combination of a low-resonance blackened aluminum membrane and a relatively oversized neodymium drive and pushes the previous boundaries in sound staging.

Attention: Our exclusive "All Car Fit" PX basket design may require the installation of the lugs to suit the circumstances and these are perforated accordingly. In return, we reward this minimal requirement, even for an inexperienced installer, with an enormously higher quality product at a significantly lower price. A speaker that doesn't need to tell a vehicle-specific fairy tale and spread fears about an alleged individual added quality. The car-specific speaker universe is a matter of install convenience and not a quality issue. Only the quality is the remaining criterion after installation.

Embrace real innovation and avoid learning the hard way. Why make overpriced specific quality compromises when a real high-end loudspeaker can cover all car models? Cars are sometimes exchanged faster than relationships and then you shouldn't start from scratch again. Why pay more for average because you drive the "expensive" car and could do it ?
 
In fact, the starting point for our PX-4M was the inadequate answers from several well-established vehicle-specific factories when asked why a 4" ABS basket speaker has to be significantly more expensive than any other normal 4" speaker on the market? It can't be the plastic material and neither can the quantities. The rather flimsy explanations after several queries were then mostly that the customers can be quite sure that the loudspeakers would fit in the installation and that customers of these vehicles are also willing to pay more money. Thus, the first argument scares and provides added value and should thus raise doubts, but at the heart of the matter it is only about the second argument to make higher margins. This may be common across the board in order to sell mostly very manageable qualities, which are then also spoken of as good due to the lack of comparison, since they sell and the consumer confirms it and the trade press could also sell advertising with benevolent assessment . We could have been selling with this tenor for over a decade if it weren't for our objectivity and our "All You Need" promise to our customers and our European specialist dealers as EXCURSION.
 
So if it was just a matter of building a loudspeaker into a plastic adapter and then talking about something "special", then you could at least do it more innovatively and with better quality. So we started at the beginning of 2020 with our own EXCURSION "ALL CAR FIT" basket design for all 4" DIN installation locations, BMW and Mercedes Benz vehicles. In subsequent processes over the years, all so-called soft parts such as membrane and spider had to be adapted to the geometry of the PX basket and, as a result, one could say that all parts except for the terminal and the strands are high-quality one-off productions, which are nevertheless within the comparable budget of vehicle-specific costs could never be achieved. Of course, our own neodymium motor from the PX Performance Series is also the basis here and a wool membrane reinforced with more glass fiber strips is in harmony with a soft, hand-made NOMEX centering. Resonances can hardly be achieved with this basket size, but if a resonance tries to be achieved, it will certainly not be possible due to the double hammer finish.
 
So say hello to a high-end 4-inch speaker that can be installed in all vehicles, contains special cable and assembly adapter material for Mercedes and BMW vehicles, is full-range capable and can therefore also work wonderfully as a coaxial replacement.
Of course as like here offered preferably in a 2-way set with our PX-1S or even with our SX-2S tweeter in a so called ECO System.

A full high grade Carbon Front got paired together with a Glasfibre Rear Former to a sandwich construction we filled with Polymetharcrylimide (PMI) foam between. This most lightweighted construction feature is paired with a kind of unbreakable stiffness and a high graded inner damping of this sandwich cone effect with an unbelievable ground resolution. A filling makes you wonder where the sub in your car is already even if still not installed and this all at the best vocal resolution.
 
With the PX-1S tweeter and the top player in the 2-way team, the actual challenge was to implement our existing design and drawings, the first samples of which date back to 2014, with the right partners. Since factories are all too happy to fall back on existing individual parts, it took a long time to persuade them to invest a great deal of effort and start completely from scratch. Our intended housing branding in the family design should also prevent possible misappropriation in other global markets without our knowledge. While high quality Santropen Surrounds sign the innovativ PX Standard the PX Spiders are similar selective with heat resistant Nomex material and set another topic PX Series Standard. Our first drawings of our design date back to 2014. It took many years to find reliable partners who were willing to implement our design with us.

Introduced a decade later in the EXCURSION PERFORMANCE series, with the subsequent introduction of the EXCURSION REFERENCE series midrange speakers, we realized that the speed and the associated resolution and impulse of our PX tweeter complemented the same attributes and character of the new REFERENCE midrange speakers even better.

So why separate a found couple when we could organize the wedding with the follow-up production and the bride was willing to take the surname REFERENCE. In particular, through the sales of the successful PX-1S initial production, all exclusive tooling costs could be paid off and thus the young RX-1S bride has her trousseau in her suitcase with an even better market positioning.

An audiophile love story with a happy ending which more than deserves the name REFERENCE and which so-called "competitors" are very welcome to compare themselves to.

There was a long research to final all our Performance Series engineering affords of the past with a not than less than a real High End 6.5“ Midbass in order to lead and represent the EXCURSION brand together with our PX-1S Tweeter and PX-3M or PX-4M Midrange into the next chapters of future and ahead of the called „Rest“.
 
But when we were done with that, we realized that we were overly motivated for some of our loyal customers with our "German engineering" and the PX Top series. The step up from the SHX to the PX series is already a house number too big for a simple improvement of existing EXCURSION systems and some of our customers. It must be said that this dilemma gave rise to the idea of another series between SHX and PX. From the genes of both parents, it should become the REFERENCE in the brand architecture of EXCURSION in the future and supplement this with the abbreviation RX of the SXR subwoofer series.

With RX or REFERENCE, we were now able to design an engineering from top to bottom for the first time. Question the luxury factors of the PERFORMANCE series with the spirit of a housewife and set the table with the simplest possible recipe, but extremely tasty. The RX formula then turned out to be even easier than expected and can be summed up as PX minus 3 building blocks but and only from the mid-bass speaker. With a super-expensive PX high-technology cone made of carbon/PMI/glass fiber, the idea of replacing it with our very light and vital wool fiber membrane from the SHX series was absolutely obvious and was already more than halfway to the goal. The double resonance-reducing hammer finish of the basket was the next logical consequence and the rest of the finish line with a total savings potential of around 45% was achieved with the chrome of the motor parts. You could also reduce the difference to just the transformer, which the cone will always be, and see the exciting result as the SUPER SHX SERIES. This with SUPER more motor power, SUPER high-quality centering, SUPER better passive components, 14GA tinned OFC wiring and 2Ohm Technology.  

Since we are now really enthusiastic about this solution and the RX Formula, the question arose as to what would happen if we made the whole thing one step bigger, in particular the demand for 8"/20cm woofers and especially with even more power is increasing. The first hurdle here was that the basket with our EXCURSION 1:1 specifications in 8" doesn't exist and we didn't want to make a compromise like we did with the SHX-8M. Which means we had to build and design suitable tools for the production of an exclusive 8" EXCURSION basket. Also, we didn't want to take over only the engine of the 6.5" like with the SHX-8M, but think more sophisticated, independent and even bigger with the RX-8M and that's how it became First of all, the coil diameter was adjusted relative to the larger membrane diameter of an 8"/20cm, which means an adjust from 1"/25.9mm to 1.2"/30.5mm bigger diameter, which of course reflect in a higher power handling. A lot more Power was requested and not just because we expect a lot more Output from the doors from an 8" size and so in the end result we can talk about a doubling of performance compared to the 6.5" because the motor diameter has grown from 80mm to a proud 110mm.

But that's not all and we kept asking ourselves what if we were to equip such an 8"/20cm machine as an audiophile coaxial with a sophisticated silk dome tweeter? There are actually no comparisons on the market, but for the traditional 6x9" customer, for example, a high-end and high-output 8" coaxial is the modern upgrade and the qualitative full-range alternative. Customers may also be interested from the growing and popular PRO AUDIO market, where the 8"/20cm size is the standard, and so a RX 802 coaxial would be the bridge to the CAR AUDIO market. In addition, our considerations to further develop our popular but aged coaxial silk dome tweeter were already at the table and so it was now time to roll up our sleeves and also implement this goal of an RX 802 hand in hand with the development of the RX 8M in order to occupy and settle a new niche.
